Located in Shenyang, Liaoning province, China Medical University was the first medical school to be established by the Chinese Communist Party. Affiliated with MOH (the Ministry of Health), MCI (Medical Council of India) and WHO (World Health Organisations), CMU was founded in October 1931. The interesting history of this private university gives it a unique touch. China Medical University was co-constructed by the Ministry of Education, National Health and Family Planning Commission. The university received its current name in 1940 and absorbed the former national Shenyang Medical School and former private Liaoning Medical College in 1948. CMU was also one of the earliest institutions to deliver higher education of Western medicine in China.
